A few weekends ago, I made the trek down to sunny Miami with the aim of going to Villa Vizcaya. If you don’t know, I’m an architectural and interior designer at a boutique firm that does high end residential so this trip was right up my alley. Miami was hot! Way too hot but Villa Vizcaya was a sight to behold.

A few weekends ago, just as the weather turned for the Fall season, I hopped on board a boat called the Jungle Queen and cruised the “Venice of America.” The cruise ran along Fort Lauderdale’s New River and an area called Millionaire’s Row. I’ve known about this 90 minute cruise for years and wanted to take it but for whatever reason it just never happened. I have a degree in architecture and I have always dreamed of designing high end, custom, residential homes. This cruise was solely for the purpose of feeding that dream.
Anyone that knows me well knows that I have the biggest girl crush on Anya Ayoung-Chee. She’s gorgeous but beyond that she’s also talented and has great ideas. I think she was the best designer in her season in Project Runway, that win was definitely deserved. Her designs captured the easy-breezy, flowy, island life of the Caribbean perfectly. So a few months ago when I learnt of Home.TT and ExhibitA I knew I couldn’t go to Trinidad and not pay a visit to the store.
From the time I started to use pinterest more regularly, I’ve come across a variety of beautiful residential architecture that frames views of blue water immaculately. It is exactly what I hope to one day build and of course to one day live in. And so, without any further ado, feast your eyes on my findings.
I am constantly enthralled by the detail and time taken when designing mosques. I cannot put into words exactly how detailed the architecture is, it is just indescribable but the effect is absolutely amazing as seen in these photographs.
