Last November, I went to the Strut II runway show put on by Traits Model Management in Guyana. I saw a plethora of Guyanese designers and a Caribbean designer and fell in love with one skirt in specific. It was this black floral skirt by gown and carnival costume designer – Randy Madray.
I mentioned previously in a a review I wrote of the show here that I hoped patrons would use the fashion show to add pieces that they saw and liked to their closets. I did just that. Practicing what I’m preaching here folks!
I like the versatility of this skirt. It’s great for a more dressy and formal function, but it is also doubles really well as s swimsuit cover-up or a resort wear separate. The original version that walked the runway had a long train with velvet panties sewn in below. Randy makes it both with and without a train – I chose the trainless option and got him to turn the velvet panty into a velvet hot short because I wanted more bottom coverage.
I paired the skirt with a high neck scallop-edged, backless one piece swimsuit. It would look great with a black crop top showing just the right amount of midriff as well and is super cute with black heels or black flat sandals. Prepare to receive loads of compliments in this piece.
