Outfit Post: Racerback Shift

Here’s another dress in my line of shift dresses. I’m hoping that you have seen the previous outfit posts along this line.

What makes this shift dress so special to me is that it is a racerback. Racerbacks -whether in swimsuit or tank tops – are a sleeveless garment which tends to have a narrower line of fabric running down in between the shoulder blades. They are seen to be sportier than more fully covered garments. I like racerbacks because they offer some skin appeal without being too revealing. After all, who is going to say that your shoulder blades are distracting? Everyone has shoulder blades after all!

Outfit Post: The Frill Shift

I started in with a series of shifts earlier on this year. With each shift, I kept the silhouette very basic and changed the details of the dress. Shift dresses are actually defined by their very simple silhouettes and if you want to know more about their characteristics you can check out a previous outfit post here.

For today’s shift, the simple detail I added was a trim of frill. I thought it made the silhouette a little more playful while adding length for ladies who want a little more coverage. Outfit Post: Scalloped Shift

I worked on a series of a few dresses falling into a shift dress line and I will slowly be sharing each one with you. In case you didn’t know, the shift dress has a pretty basic shape and a distinct set of characteristics. Shift dresses are characterized by a classic silhouette usually being sleeveless, having no defined waist, and stopping about the knee. They definitely make for the perfect mini and are very feminine.
